July 31 (Day One)

Hogwarts hallway

Arrival in London from overnight flights. Transfer via coach to Oxford where you will take a city tour. Buses will pick up arriving guests and depart every hour on the hour from 8:00am to 12:00 noon. For Accio conference attendees, we will provide transfers from Reading to Oxford if a minimum of 20 attendees have booked HP Fan Trips™ 2005 tours.

Oxford is the perfect place for a Harry Potter-themed celebration. It is referred to as the City of Dreaming Spires because of its beautiful architecture. The city is the home of England's oldest university and while it is also an industrial city on the Thames, the association with learning and the academic way of life remains paramount. Many scenes from the Harry Potter movies were filmed in Oxford, plus even more in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Take some time to rest from your journey before this evening celebration of a very special birthday dinner, "Hogwarts"-style! You'll truly enjoy the banquet as you sit in an historic Oxford dining hall, renew friendships with HP Fan'ers from 2004 or make new friends. Enjoy magical theatre with our workshop organized by the Creations Theatre of Oxford who will have actors levitating and disappearing on stage.  You will be shown how these are many other illusions are performed. It will be a treat that will make your friends really envious.

You will be given some time to shop and eat at there your leisure.

Inside the Hogwarts Express

Throughout the day there will be activities on the train such as games, divination classes, stories and socializing! Just as it took Harry and his classmates all day to travel to their school, you will be treated to an all-day adventure through the gorgeous English countryside. The scenery and activities throughout the day will inspire your own magical memories.

We don't need to tell you how special this is... Let the HP Fan'ers from 2004 tell you. You'll be riding in the actual train compartments that were used in the movies - a truly unique experience, as the train does not come out of the depot except for filming or museum exhibitions!

August 3 (Day Four)

Breakfast (included).

Introduction to pagan theme (people living close to the land, their uses of plants, herbs, trees and nature). Throughout history, pagans were often denounced as witches.

Stonehenge

Visit Stonehenge and Avebury and explore the ideas behind the doctrine of signatures, herbs in medicine, trees and plants and their origins and symbolism in history and literature. Avebury Stone Circle was built over three thousand years ago. Although do not know for what it was originally erected, it has long been associated with myth and magic. It is also linked with sun and moon worship and some people believe it was a prehistoric almanac. It is one of the most evocative places in England where you can walk amongst and touch the ancient gnarled stones that were already old when the Romans arrived.

Stonehenge is one of the best-known monuments in the world and is also one of the most mysterious. It was erected almost four thousand years ago before metal had been discovered, at the same time as the pyramids in Egypt.  It used to be thought that Merlin the magician had brought the structure from England to Ireland. We now think it was designed to foretell the seasons - the sun still rises over the heelstone on Midsummer day, when modern day druids assemble at dawn to re-enact ancient rituals.

Snowy owl (like Hedwig)

Early evening visit to the Hawk Conservancy – an extraordinary opportunity to hold owls, watch them fly and learn about them. Explore the value of the carrier pigeon's ability to deliver messages such as in World War II. The Hawk Conservancy has an unique collection of rare and endangered birds of prey. They breed owls like Harry's Hedwig and you can view baby owls only a few days old.

We will visit the vultures, hawks and owls as well as seeing the hospital set up to care for injured birds. We will enjoy a barbeque in the woods before watching a fascinating display of flying by some of the birds. There will be an opportunity for everyone to handle the birds.

Dinner at leisure. Overnight in London in 3-star accommodations.

August 4 (Day Five)

Breakfast (included).

Re-potting mandrakes!

Visit the Chelsea Physic Garden and learn about plants and their powers and the Old Operating Theatre. Discussion of the real Nicolas Flamel from the 14th century. Also included will be a discussion of Mandrakes and other elements discussed in Harry Potter books, which are based on real herbs found in nature.

Lunch at leisure. Visit the Science Museum to explore alchemy and potions further as well as other scientific interests. Depending on how much time you wish to spend at the museum enjoy, you may also find some free time to explore London.
